08 Feb Atty. JJ Disini Represents PH in the Data Privacy Forum in (ABLI), Singapore
As part of the Asian Business Law Institute (ABLI) Data Privacy Forum in Singapore on February 7, 2018, the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore (MTI) and the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) organized a seminar on “Trending Regulatory Constructs on Data Protection for Businesses in Asia”, that focused on understanding the data protection landscape in Asia and the mechanisms for cross border data transfers. Atty. JJ Disini represented the Philippines in a panel of experts, joined by other representatives from China, India, Indonesia and Malaysia, that gave an overview of data protection laws and reforms in their respective jurisdictions. He was also a speaker during the second session of the Data Privacy Forum, where he discussed business risks arising from legal inconsistencies and gaps in the coverage of data protection laws in Asia.
Atty. JJ Disini is a Jurisdictional Reporter of ABLI in its Data Privacy Project. Together with other practitioners, industry representatives and academics, he was selected to represent the Philippine Jurisdiction because of his knowledge and expertise on Data Privacy.
