06 Jul DTI Commends Disini Law Attorneys for the PH’s Accession to the United Nations Electronic Communications Convention
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) extended its gratitude to Disini Law Managing Partner JJ Disini, and Special Counsels Oliver Xavier Reyes and Ofelia Leaño for their contribution in the process of securing the Philippines’ accession to the United Nations Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts (UN ECC). Acknowledging their contribution to the process, DTI Assistant Secretary Pacheco said the Department was “especially thankful” for their expert advice.
In line with Disini Law’s public interest advocacy and development work, these attorneys provided technical and legal expertise to the DTI in what is considered as a “landmark achievement of the Department in the implementation of its eCommerce roadmap.” The Philippines’ accession to the UN ECC, a feat which is 15 years in the making, is seen as a big step forward as the UN ECC is expecting to ensure the establishment of common rules across jurisdictions on the use of electronic communications in international trade.
