31 Jul Disini & Disini welcomes Atty. Edgardo Carlo Vistan II, Senior Special Counsel
Atty. Edgardo Carlo Vistan II has joined Disini & Disini as a Senior Special Counsel for Litigation effective July 1, 2018. He is working hand-in-hand with the partners and associates in handling the firm’s top cases.
Atty. Vistan has built a practice focused on litigation and election law and has managed intra-corporate disputes, estate proceedings, criminal prosecutions and defenses, as well as securities, property, labor, contract cases, and matters involving national and local government positions. He is currently engaged in solo practice after years of working with the country’s top firms.
He is a Professor in the U.P. College of Law teaching Transportation Law, Civil Procedure, and Constitutional Law, and has headed the Institute of International Legal Studies of the U.P. Law Center. His current research endeavors are in the interplay of science, technology, and the law; public international law; and constitutional law.
Atty. Vistan is a J.S.D. candidate at Yale Law School, where he also earned his LL.M. degree in 2017. His doctoral study explores how international law could regulate cyber conflict and aims to develop a treaty-based regime towards this end.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology in the UP Diliman in 1998, graduating cum laude. He took up his Bachelor of Laws (Ll.B) degree in the same university, and graduated cum laude and class valedictorian in 2003. While in law school, he worked as a Court Legal Researcher, and later on as Acting Branch Clerk of Court, for Branch 227 of the Regional Trial Court in Quezon City.
