25 Jul AIAC organizes its first Domain Name Disputes workshop in Manila
The Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) facilitated a workshop regarding the rules and procedures on Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) on July 10, 2018 at the Net One Center, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig Its first workshop in Manila, AIAC’S Expert Approach to Initiating Domain Name Disputes focused on UDRP case trends, complaint filing procedure, remedies available, and legal concerns in UDRP.
The five key presenters for the event were: Mr. JJ Disini, Managing Partner of Disini & Disini Law Office and Associate Professor at the University of the Philippines College of Law; Mr. Jay Patrick R. Santiago, Senior Associate of Quisumbing Torres and Member of Baker McKenzie International; Mr. Teddy Kalaw, Partner of Kalaw Sy Selva & Campos and Professor of Law at the Ateneo Law School; Mr. Ferdinand M. Negre, Intellectual Property Attorney; Mr. Bengzon Negre Untalan, Chair of Commercial Law and Intellectual Property Department at the Ateneo de Manila University; and Mr. Alonso Mayordomo Castilla, Senior International Case Counsel of the Asian International Arbitration Centre.
The workshop was attended by professionals from the legal as well as the non-legal industries, such as trademark practitioners and potential filing parties, namely trademark owners and domain name registrants. Registrars and ccTLD administrators were also able to brush-up their knowledge on UDRP proceedings and rules.
