Regina Ysabel Montenegro

Junior Associate

Ysabel works on various matters for the firm, including banking and financial regulatory matters, data privacy compliance and advisory, general corporate housekeeping, litigation, and estate concerns.

She graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University with a double degree in BS Management Engineering and AB Economics in 2017. 

Ysabel earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Philippines College of Law in 2021. She took and passed the 2022 Bar Examinations.

Concurrent with her legal studies, Ysabel worked as a Paralegal in the Human Rights Victims’ Claims Board, as a Research Assistant in the UP Law Center – Institute of Human Rights, and as a Legal Assistant in the Energy Regulatory Commission. She was also a member of the UP Law Karapatan ng Komunidad sa Loob ng Selda (KAKOSA) and the Philippine Law Register.


Since joining the firm in 2021, she has been in involved in the following projects:

  • Advisory services on the legal implications of business strategies relating to decentralized finance, anti-money laundering, and compliance, licensing and regulatory implications of business processes relating to BSP-regulated activities such as money service businesses, electronic payment and financial services, electronic money issuers, virtual asset service providers, and operators of payment systems;
  • Contract review of IT service agreements, software development and licensing, and various technology-related contracts;
  • Data privacy matters including drafting of data outsourcing and data sharing agreements, the conduct of privacy impact assessments, and review of contracts vis-a-vis the Data Privacy Act;
  • Due diligence in preparation for corporate M&A, incorporation of entities, and general corporate housekeeping, including assistance on corporate secretarial services and contract drafting and review of financing contracts such as vesting agreements and simple agreements for future equity;
  • Settlement of estate and transfer of titles;
  • Contract drafting and review of music licensing, publishing, and distribution;
  • Assistance on intellectual property registration, maintenance, and general advisory on IP matters;
  • Litigation work such as assistance in drafting pleadings including those relating to the Cybercrime Prevention Act; and
  • Advisory services on Philippine labor laws and taxation.
